    Alterations to the limbal stem cell niche resulting from injuries or inflammatory processes can trigger pathological changes, notably the development of pterygium, while concurrently undermining the regenerative potential of stem cell transplantation. To re-establish the physiological corneal structure and function, a comprehensive approach is essential, encompassing both the replenishment of limbal stem cells and the rejuvenation of their specialized microenvironment.
