Ocular graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is a severe ocular surface disease which occurs after allogeneic hematopoetic stem cell transplantation. An international recognised hemato-oncological expert on GVHD will present similarities and differences of systemic and organ specific pathomechanisms in GVHD whilst an expert on immunology of the ocular surface and immune modulatory therapies will elucidate the role of the immune tone in ocular surface disease. Shared clinical features of ocular GVHD and other ocular surface diseases will be illustrated. Adverse-environmental triggers of ocular surface disease and ocular GVHD will be presented as well as their novel treatments of ocular GVHD and their translational potential.
