Fr02-01 Optic Neuropathy UpdateOptic neuropathies can occur from multiple pathophysiologic mechanisms, including inflammation, both infectious and noninfectious, ischemia, both arteritic and nonarteritic, compression/infiltration, both neoplastic and nonneoplastic, toxic/metabolic, inherited degeneration, and secondary to trauma, elevated intraocular pressure, or elevated intracranial pressure. Fr02-02 Uveal melanoma: genetics, treatment and outcome
Uveal melanoma is an infrequent but very important disease to recognize: new approaches may allow early treatment with conservation of vision. Furthermore, early detection of metastases may help to improve survival time, both for treatment with hepatic perfusion as well as with tebentafusp, a monoclonal antibody. Identifying patients at risk of developing metastases is at the basis of early detection of these metastases, but risk factors may be influenced by the genetically-determined eye color of the patient.- Martine Jager (Leiden, NL)
