The biological laboratory of the Dr. Rolf M. Schwiete Center for Limbal Stem Cell Research and Congenital Aniridia at the Department of Ophthalmology (headed by Prof. Dr. Berthold Seitz) focuses its research on the pathophysiology and molecular biology of congenital aniridia and limbal stem cell deficiency. The work is carried out in an interdisciplinary environment that closely links clinical (contact person: Dr. Tim Berger) and basic research. The laboratory has comprehensive and modern technical equipment and offers you the opportunity to work in a future-oriented environment and to apply your skills in a targeted manner.

We are looking for a research assistant (Postdoc) (m/f/d) as of 01.06.2025. This is a part-time position (70%), which is limited to 5 years. 

Your tasks: 

  • Isolation and cultivation of primary cells from patient tissue, cultivation of various cell lines
  • Versatile and challenging cell and molecular biology work in a safety level 2 laboratory (e.g. PCR, Western blotting, ELISA)
  • Carrying out flow cytometric analyses including sample preparation
  • Induction of new doctoral students
  • Writing scientific publications and presenting at international conferences
  • Coordinating and applying for national and international research projects (third-party funding) 

Your profile: 

  • Successfully completed scientific university degree and doctorate in the field of natural sciences, life sciences or medicine
  • Practical experience in the field of cell biology and molecular biology
  • Highest level of trustworthiness, excellent organizational skills, strong self-initiative as well as an independent and responsible working style
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Good knowledge of German is desirable
  • Enjoy working in an interdisciplinary and international team
