- OPENING SESSION
The AAO 2026 Opening Session will take place Saturday, Oct. 10, 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m..
The program includes a celebration of Academy Award winners, including the Laureate Recognition Award, addresses by Academy leadership, and transferring the gavel to the Academy President Elect. - Sessions:
Poster Discussions and presentations in the Poster Theater start on Friday, Oct. 9.
The Spotlight on Cataract takes place on Monday, Oct. 12. Rapid fire mini-lectures and spontaneous panel discussions are built around video cases of intraoperative or postoperative complications. Throughout the session audience members are asked to weigh in with their case management choices via audience polling. - Named Lectures
Each year ophthalmology luminaries are asked to give special named lectures during the Academy's annual meeting and Subspecialty Day. - Subspeciality Day
Eight subspecialty meetings will take place in New Orleans.
