Programm
This Course will be organized by the University Hospital Ruggi D' Aragona, via San Leonardo, Salerno in cooperation with the Echography Teaching Services (Iowa City, USA) and the Augen-Echographie-Center (Regensburg, Germany). The purpose of the Course is to inform participants about the unique clinical applications of this most effective ultrasonographic method in Ophthalmology.
Topic:
Emphasis will be placed on special software (artificial intelligence) which has transformed Standardized Echography into a much easier, faster and still more reliable and precise diagnostic and biometric procedure permitting automatic diagnosesusing a advanced instrument ABSolu (Quantel Medical, France).
Special topics:
* POSTERIOR EYE SEGMENT
- RETINAL DETACHMENT: reliable diagnosis and safe differentiation from HEMORRHAGIC POSTERIOR VITREOUS DETACHMENTS and dense fibrovascular MEMBRANES, BREAKS
- ENDOPHTHALMITIS (early detection)
- VITREOUS CONDITIONS : posterior hyphemas, asteroid hyalosis
- TUMORS IN ADULTS and CHILDREN: reliable diagnosis and differentiation
* ANTERIOR EYE SEGMENT
- Corneal conditions
- Masurements of anterior chamber(angle), iris thickness
- Hyphaemas, foreign bodies, Synechiae, subluxated lenses,
- Iris & ciliary body tumors
- Glaucomatous changes, and other conditions affecting the anterior eye segment
- UBM vs OCT
ORBIT and PERIORBITA
- EXAMINATION TECHNIQUES: including measurement of extra-ocular muscles
- INFLAMMATION
- TRAUMA and FOREIGN BODIES
- TUMORS in ADULTS and CHILDREN : diagnosis, differentiation, localization and measurement
- EXTRA-OCULAR MUSCLES
- GRAVES' ORBITOPATHY (diagnosis, grading, detection of optic nerve compression, management)
