Readouts for safety and efficacy are an important research area in inherited retinal diseases research and their clinical interventions. Due to the cell-specific effects on retinal cells in inherited retinal diseases, visual functions and retinal morphology are not affected equally over the phenotypes. A careful choice of diagnostics to assess efficacy, but also safety is needed.
