Course #751W: Painting Materials Workshop
- William Ortiz, BCO, BADO (oils)
In our constantly updating, technological world, one starts to question the need for handmade items!" The focus of this topic will be the use of artists oils in the replication of the human iris. Images of the anatomy and structure of the iris will be presented as well as a demonstration on "how to" duplicate the iris on an opaque surface.
- Marie-France Clermont, BCO, BADO, FASO (pencils)
This session will include a demonstration of reverse painting technique via a video, using a combination of color pencils and dry pigments. Each participant is required to bring an iris button with a pupil incorporated and a few brushes. The ASO will provide mono-poly, monomer, receptacles, the pencils and the pigments.
- Bridget Kinneer, BCO (dry pigments)
For this portion, you will see a short PowerPoint with videos of her method of painting an artificial eye with dry pigments. Then she will assist in the workshop where her method can be attempted on a blank shape.
- David LeGrand, BCO, BADO, FASO (lacquers)
This section will provide a brief slide presentation on the use of acrylic lacquers to paint the iris of a prosthesis. Then participants will have the opportunity to paint an iris using this method.
