This is the welcome note of Congress Co-Chairs:
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce and invite you to attend the 6th Annual Congress on Controversies in Ophthalmology: Asia-Australia (COPHy AA) which will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, January 29-30, 2021.
COPHy AA Congresses have been held successfully in various countries in Europe, paving the way for this regionally- orientated COPHy Congress – called COPHy AA – which has triumphantly taken place previously in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (2015), Bangkok, Thailand (2016), Seoul, South Korea (2017), Manila, Philippines (2018) and most recently in Shanghai, China (2019)
The COPHy AA program, returning to Bangkok in 2021, again will be devoted to evidence-based debates and discussions amongst session moderators, speakers and the audience, all of whom will examine and analyze the most relevant and controversial issues raised during the course of 2020 and 2021 within the field of ophthalmology. This educational Congress will focus on Retina, but will discuss controversies in other related areas of ophthalmology, including neuro-ophthalmology, ocular imaging, and uveitis.
Topics will include the surgical and medical treatment of retinal diseases including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, proliferative diabetic retinopathy, polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy, retinal vein occlusions, pathologic myopia, and vitreomacular interface abnormalities, as well as advances in ophthalmic imaging, hereditary retinal diseases, surgical innovations, home monitoring, and the role of deep learning (artificial intelligence) in these conditions.
Allowing ample time for speaker-audience discussion, the Congress aims at reaching up-to-date recommendations to ongoing debates even when data remains limited, through evidence-based medicine, including expert opinion. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in this vibrant meeting which will facilitate discussions on the shared experiences and opinions of leading local and international experts.
The 6th COPHy AA Congress will emphasize issues related to the region in terms of diagnostics, distinctive responses to treatments and typical complications. Many of the Faculty members will be from Thailand and surrounding countries in order to discuss these typical regional problems.
We invite you to participate in the 6th COPHy AA Congress in Bangkok, Thailand.
Sincerely,
Prof. Neil Bressler Prof. Anat Loewenstein
