Childhood glaucoma is the most challenging in the field of glaucoma for numerous reasons: Diagnosis and adequate surgical treatment in a small eye is demanding, the interdisciplinary management including consultation of parents, involvement of anesthesiologists, pediatricians, human geneticists and orthoptists requires close cooperation and teamwork and an appropriate infrastructure.

Due to the COVID19-pandemic the decission was made to postpone the 5th International Glaucoma Symposium. Now the 5th International Glaucoma Symposium and Ist International Childhood Glaucoma Symposium will be held in Mainz on Sep 3rd and 4th, 2021.

This is an interdisciplinary meeting for delegates from around the world to meet and discuss complex childhood glaucoma cases, and to share experiences in managing anaesthesia, surgery and follow-up in newborn and children with glaucoma

The organizers recruits international glaucoma specialists on childhood glaucoma who will share their expertise with the participants. Also there is an OCT-imaging-course, a wetlab on minimal invasive filtering surgery and glaucoma surgery sessions.
